GetYourGuide reviews: cancellation, refunds and what it sells on each Canary Island

It is the strongest platform on Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and, alongside Viator, on Tenerife; as a rule you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before. But it charges gate prices: some parks are cheaper on their own website.

GetYourGuide reviews in short: it is legit, and the most convenient option for boat trips, buggies, guided excursions and parks on the bigger islands. Its weak point is price: it sells at the gate price, and some parks are cheaper on their own website.

For the record: this site earns a commission from GetYourGuide when you book through our links. You pay the same, and that does not stop us telling you when you would be better off buying elsewhere.

What GetYourGuide is and who is behind it

The company is GetYourGuide Deutschland GmbH, based in Berlin; it is privately owned and backed by venture capital. It does not run excursions itself: it acts as an agent, and your contract is with the activity provider, the local company named at the bottom of each listing. Read it before you pay.

The order of the results is commercial (commissions play a part), so re-sort by rating or price.

GetYourGuide in the Canary Islands, island by island

What GetYourGuide sells on each island

Tenerife

Joint-largest catalogue, with Viator

Over 500 results: Siam Park and Loro Parque at €44, whale and dolphin boats with thousands of reviews, Teide.

Gran Canaria

Parks and boats

Aqualand, Palmitos Park and Poema del Mar at gate prices; the Mogán submarine from €38 and a dolphin catamaran with more than 6,000 reviews.

Lanzarote

Excursions, not single tickets

Half-day Timanfaya tour from €59 and the ferry to La Graciosa from €29; tickets to the island council's centres are sold only on its official website.

Fuerteventura

Boats, Lobos and Oasis Wildlife

Boat trip from Morro Jable from €49, Oasis Wildlife from €41.50 and the Lobos ferry from €17.

La Palma

Well covered

More than a dozen products starting on the island, such as the Tajogaite route from €38.

La Gomera

Mostly from Tenerife

Few excursions starting on the island, such as the Garajonay tour from €75; the rest are day trips from Tenerife (€110).

El Hierro

Thin

Barely two products, both in La Restinga: a try-dive from €65 and a boat trip from €60.

On the western islands, where Tiqets and Headout sell nothing that starts on the island, Civitatis offers more (26, 12 and 5 activities). On La Gomera, check the departure point: many excursions start in Los Cristianos, like the day trip from Tenerife. On El Hierro, look at the dive centres in La Restinga.

GetYourGuide prices vs the official website

It charges the gate price on every ticket we compared. Siam Park and Loro Parque cost €44 here and on their own website (€78 for the combined ticket), and here you also get 24-hour cancellation and the option to pay later. It loses out on parks that sell cheaper online for a fixed date:

Adult prices checked on 2 October 2026. They may vary by date; each site confirms the final price.

Aqualand Maspalomas: €41 here, from €32 on its own website. Palmitos Park: €39 against €35; both together, €62 with the official ticket. A family of four can save up to €36 at Aqualand by buying direct on a cheap day. Nor does it sell single tickets to the Lanzarote's tourist centres (CACT) – only excursions that include them – or Canary resident rates.

GetYourGuide cancellation, refunds and customer service

  • Cancellation: full refund if you cancel more than 24 hours before; after that, or if you do not show up, nothing. Some listings have their own terms.
  • Reserve now, pay later: on part of the catalogue, card only; the charge comes 72 hours before.
  • Refunds: to the original payment method within 3–5 working days.
  • Customer service: phone, chat and email from its help centre; it says it replies within 24 hours, 48 at most. In the app you can message the provider.

GetYourGuide reviews: is it legit?

Yes: it is a large, identifiable company, and only people who have booked can leave a review. On Trustpilot it scores 3.9 out of 5 from 56,525 reviews, 19% of them one-star, and it replies to 97% of the negative ones; its apps score 4.89 on the App Store and 4.92 on Google Play (UK stores).

Reviewers praise the guides and the easy booking; they criticise last-minute cancellations by the provider, partial refunds and slow complaint handling. In Italy, the competition authority fined it, along with other companies, over the resale of Colosseum tickets.

The good

  • Lots of verified reviews on the big islands.
  • 24-hour free cancellation as a rule, Siam Park and Loro Parque included.
  • Names the actual provider on every listing.

The not so good

  • Never cheaper than the gate price on the tickets we compared.
  • Order of results influenced by commissions.
  • Complaints about slow claims handling.

Who it suits, and the alternatives

Use it for boat trips, buggies, excursions with pick-up, ferries to La Graciosa or Lobos, and Siam Park or Loro Parque with the option to cancel. Buy direct for parks with cheaper online tickets, such as Aqualand Maspalomas. For free tours, transfers or the western islands, compare with Civitatis; if you use Tripadvisor, with Viator. All our reviews are in operators and platforms; the catalogue is at GetYourGuide Canary Islands.

Is GetYourGuide legit?

Yes. It is an identifiable German company, it only accepts reviews from people who have booked, and it names the provider of every activity.

How do I cancel a GetYourGuide booking?

From "Bookings", on the website or in the app. More than 24 hours before, you get everything back within 3–5 working days, unless the listing says otherwise.

Does GetYourGuide have a customer service phone number?

Yes: phone, chat and email, all from its help centre.

Does GetYourGuide offer discounts or price matching?

It has no points scheme. If you find the same activity, from the same provider and on the same terms, for less, it may refund the difference at its discretion. The crossed-out prices on boat trips are the operator's own offers.

GetYourGuide or Civitatis?

GetYourGuide has more reviews on the big islands and more languages; Civitatis is stronger in Spanish, on free tours and transfers, and on La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
