Civitatis reviews: cancellation, refunds and what it sells on each Canary Island

Civitatis is legit, has activities on all seven islands and offers the most on La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, with free tours and cheap transfers. Its weak points: it doesn't say which company runs the trip, and cancellation terms change from one activity to the next.

Civitatis reviews in short: it is legit and, in the Canary Islands, the platform that covers the small islands best, with activities on all seven. It is the go-to for free tours, transfers and Spanish-speaking guides.

We have no agreement with Civitatis and earn nothing if you book with them. Its website is civitatis.com.

What Civitatis is and who is behind it

Civitatis Tours, S.L. (tax ID B-86899440) is a Madrid company. Alberto Gutiérrez Pascual founded it in 2008 as a website of free travel guides; the fund Vitruvian Partners later invested around €100 million alongside the founder.

It is an intermediary: the excursions are run by local companies, whose name usually does not appear on the listing.

La Palma

La Gomera

El Hierro

5 activities · 224 reviews · 8.9

Try-dive in La Restinga €63, whales and dolphins €45.

On El Hierro it has 5 activities against the 2 you see on GetYourGuide, and on La Palma and La Gomera it offers the most that starts on the island; Tiqets and Headout sell nothing there. Its customers are almost all Spanish speakers: on Gran Canaria, 10,719 reviews on the Spanish-language site and 228 on the English one.

There are free tours in the capitals of six islands (not Fuerteventura) and transfers on all of them: from €7.50 on Gran Canaria and about €8 on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, up to €27 on El Hierro and €28.20 on La Palma.

Civitatis prices vs the official website

On tickets it charges the official price: Siam Park and Loro Parque €44, Poema del Mar €29, the La Graciosa ferry from €29. The "€48 → €44" on Siam Park is not a discount: €44 is what it costs at the park.

Adult prices checked on 2 October 2026. They may vary by date; each site confirms the final price.

The ferry to Lobos costs €17 return everywhere; Civitatis adds a water taxi for €16 and a ferry with snorkelling for €27. You also need the free permit from the island council (Cabildo).

Aqualand Maspalomas and Palmitos Park do not appear on its Gran Canaria page (buy direct: they are cheaper on their own websites), and of the CACT centres on Lanzarote it only sells excursions that include them, such as Timanfaya for €59.

Civitatis cancellation, payment and customer service

It accepts Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and Klarna; depending on the operator, you pay all or part of the price when you book.

Those 12 hours are the most flexible deadline of all the sellers of those parks. Free tours are shown as "Free", but you have to book them; it is customary to tip the guide (check on the listing).

Customer service runs 24 hours a day via a contact form and at reservas@civitatis.com; its terms give no phone number.

Civitatis reviews: is it legit?

Yes. On Trustpilot it scores 4.5 out of 5 from 195,035 reviews, with only 5% one-star, the lowest share among the big platforms, and it replies to 98% of the negative ones. Reviewers praise the guides and how easy it is to book; the complaints mention support that is hard to reach, changing schedules and doubts over who is responsible if the local company lets you down.

On its website only people who booked can review, with a score from 0 to 10. A boat trip with 8.3 is roughly equivalent to 4.1 stars on another platform: don't compare the figures as they stand.

The good

  • Activities on all seven islands, with more on the western ones than anyone else.
  • Free tours and cheap transfers.
  • Reviews from customers only, many of them in Spanish.

The not so good

  • Doesn't name the operator before you pay.
  • Different cancellation deadlines for each activity.
  • No phone; no German, Chinese or Japanese.

Who it suits, and the alternatives

It suits you if you speak Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese, want a free tour or a cheap transfer and, above all, if you are going to La Palma, Garajonay or El Hierro. It is not for you if you read German, Chinese or Japanese, or want to know which company is taking you out before you pay.

GetYourGuide has more reviews on the big islands and names the operator; Tiqets is useful for tickets. We earn a commission from both if you book through this site, at no extra cost to you. All of them are in operators and platforms.
