About us: an independent guide to the seven islands

We are the canaryislands.com.es team: an independent guide to choosing your island, tour and dates in the Canaries, with facts checked against official sources and no promises nobody can keep.

Updated 2 October 2026Facts checked against official sources

canaryislands.com.es is an independent travel guide to the Canary Islands. It is written by the canaryislands.com.es team for people who are planning a trip, or who are already on an island and need to decide quickly: which island to go to, which tour is worth it, how much it costs, where it leaves from and what could go wrong.

We are not an official website. We are not part of the Government of the Canary Islands, or of any island council (cabildo), national park, museum or tour company.

What the guide covers

All seven islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote with La Graciosa, Fuerteventura with Lobos, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. Each has its own page and guides to its main places and activities.

What sets us apart are our comparisons between islands, theme by theme: which island to choose, where to see whales and dolphins, volcanoes, stars, hiking, diving, water parks or how to get between the islands. We also publish the weather month by month for every island and reviews of operators and platforms, from ferry lines to booking websites.

How we check our facts

Every fact comes from a source you can verify: the website of the park, museum or ferry line, the island council, AEMET (the Spanish met office) for the climate, or the terms published by each company. When two sources disagree, we say so. When something isn't published (a weight limit, a winter timetable), we tell you to ask when you book rather than making it up.

Prices change. Official prices are those published on the date each page was last reviewed, and platform prices are "from" prices that depend on the date and the option you choose. If the official website is cheaper than the platform, we say so even though we earn nothing from it.

We don't promise sightings, weather or available places. Nobody can.

How we're funded

We earn a commission when you book through our links to GetYourGuide and Tiqets, our partners; a link to Headout may also earn one. You pay the same. We don't charge to appear in the guide or for reviews, and we assess platforms we have no relationship with, such as Viator or Civitatis, by the same standard. The details are in our affiliate disclosure.
