The Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo de Lanzarote (CACT) are the public face of César Manrique's work: Jameos del Agua, the Mirador del Río, the Jardín de Cactus and the Timanfaya visit all come under this umbrella. What they show you is the best of the island. What deserves a closer look is how they sell it: single tickets, no combined pass, no changes or refunds and, at Timanfaya and the Cueva de los Verdes, online only with a fixed time slot.
Who runs the CACT centres
It is a local public business entity of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the island council (EPEL-CACT). It runs seven centres: Montañas del Fuego (Timanfaya), Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, Jardín de Cactus, Mirador del Río, Casa Museo del Campesino and Castillo de San José, home to the International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC). Inside Jameos there is also the Casa de los Volcanes museum, and five of the centres have a restaurant.
In its last closed financial year it recorded 2,956,406 visits, turned over €52.5 million and paid €7.56 million in fees to the Cabildo and to the town councils of Haría, Yaiza and Tinajo. The management puts part of that result down to updated prices.
Two points to clear up. The Fundación César Manrique houses (Tahíche and Haría) are not CACT: the Foundation is private and sells its own tickets (Fundación César Manrique review). And the Museo Atlántico does not appear on the current CACT website or shop; the dives are sold by dive centres (water sports in Lanzarote).

CACT bonos: why the combined pass no longer exists
The passes ("bonos") that bundled several centres are no longer sold: the online shop only offers single tickets for each centre plus three premium "Insólita" visits, even though its page is still called "tickets and vouchers". The only combined product is Jameos del Agua with the Casa de los Volcanes (€22.40).
The sums for one adult: the five main centres (Timanfaya, Jameos, Cueva, Cactus and Mirador) add up to €82; all six paid ones, €87.40. If someone sells you a "CACT pass", what you are buying is something else.
How to buy CACT tickets
- Montañas del Fuego and Cueva de los Verdes: online only, for a specific day and time slot. At Timanfaya you must be at the ticket office 15 minutes beforehand; arrive late and you lose your ticket.
- Jameos, Cactus, Mirador and MIAC: untimed ticket, valid for one entry within 3 months of purchase.
- Changes and refunds: none, on any ticket.
The shop is at ventaonline.cactlanzarote.com. Customer service: 901 200 300 and WhatsApp +34 606 673 138, Monday to Friday 08:00–15:00.
The new addition is the small-group Insólita visits: Montañas del Fuego (€59.90, including the climb up Montaña Rajada), Jameos del Agua (€46.97, including the inside of the Auditorium) and Jardín de Cactus.
CACT states that Timanfaya and Cueva de los Verdes tickets are sold only on its own website. The GetYourGuide and Tiqets products we link to here are not stand-alone tickets but day trips with transport that stop at the centres; check each listing to see whether entry is included.
What works and what grates
The good: they open 365 days a year with a single timetable, and Lanzarote residents pay between €1 and €3. The bad: without a combined pass the full circuit costs more, the "no changes, no refunds" rule treats a timed ticket the same as one valid for three months, and the website has been rebuilt, so many old links in blogs and forums now return an error.
In the past, a staff strike closed the centres for 19 days, from mid-August to early September. As things stand, no strike or closure has been announced.

The not so good

Who it suits and the alternatives
If you can only pay for two centres, choose Timanfaya and Jameos del Agua: they are the ones nothing else can replace. With small children, remember that under-7s go free and that Jameos does not allow pushchairs. If you have spare hours in the north, fit in the Cueva de los Verdes (timed) and then Jameos (untimed), which are 1 km apart.
For the full Manrique circuit, with a map and the order to visit, read the César Manrique route; for the national park visit, the Timanfaya guide. If you would rather not drive, day trips take care of the transport:
